The label:
your guarantee in bio-based content

Bâtiment Labellisé Produit Biosourcé

The European terminology standard NF EN 16575 defines a biobased product as being “entirely or partially derived from bioresources”. Therefore, a product that would only incorporate 1% of biobased material is considered, according to this definition, to be biobased.

A demanding label, based on solid pillars to promote responsible practices and enhance a territorial economy.

The label has 3 main objectives:

  • Strengthening the market renewable products thanks to credible certification.
  • Bringing transparency total on bio-based quantities and their role in carbon storage.
  • Promote local and responsible sectors to reduce the global carbon footprint.

What are the prerequisites
to obtain the label?

The product must include a% minimum mass of raw material from biomass, defined in the reference by product family. This percentage differs between product families (see annex 1 of the standard).

The use of the label must meet transparency requirements with respect to the public:

  • The product must have, or be in the process of having, a environmental product declaration (EPD) available on national databases (INIES in France and B-EPD in Belgium)
  • THEOrigin of biobased raw materials must be visible
